Dr. Angela Meyers is a former federal government employee with over 15 years of experience, an academic doctor, and a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform. During her tenure in the government, she was moved by her commitment to public service and a belief that government should be a force for good. However, her journey took a transformative turn when she met Shawn Rodriguez, a wrongfully convicted individual. This encounter, coupled with her academic research on polymaths in prison settings, exposed her to the profound injustices within the American criminal justice system. Motivated by these revelations, Dr. Meyers founded the Prison Transparency Project to amplify the voices of those she calls "America's most subjugated people"—the incarcerated, many of whom are disproportionately and unjustly punished.
